Nature Abhors a Vacuum (The Aielund Saga)

Nature Abhors a Vacuum (The Aielund Saga)by Stephen L. Nowland

For Aiden Wainwright, a short trip to the nearby town of Bracksfordshire was supposed to be an opportunity for continuing his research into the arcane. But unfortunate circumstances see the town gates closed for weeks, and with supplies running low, Aiden finds himself thrust into the role of town saviour. Together with an old friend of dubious character, a drunken ranger on the edge, and a church acolyte out of her depth, he sets out to fill the vacuum of power left by the absent King’s army, and deal with a rapidly escalating situation that threatens the security of the entire land, while uncovering the mysteries behind his own past.

Coke upon Woodburn: or, dialogues fit to be perused by those christian people that abhor the barbarous sin of murther. ...by See Notes Multiple ContributorsGale ECCO, Print Editions

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.
The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.

Baruch Spinoza (1632-1677)" /></a><i>by Greg LinsdellLAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing</i><div><p>The growth of private policing has been the subject of numerous commentaries that perpetuate the rhetoric of Shearing & Stenning (1980) in announcing a "quiet revolution". The figures that formed the basis of these original commentaries were largely based in the US and appeared to generalise readily into the Australian experience. Australian authors have used official statistics to support the notion that change of a similar scale is occurring in Australia. This work examines these figures more closely and questions previous assumptions which equated a licensed security officer to a public police officer on a one-to-one basis. It also shows how the vacuum created by restrictions on public policing create unprecedented opportunities for private sector growth which arguably erode accountability while creating opportunities for enhanced cooperative partnerships. The emergence of private policing and the relationships between public and private police are examined against theoretical frameworks and complemented by the insight of the practitioners and industry leaders which enables the development of a rich, Victoria specific, picture that will inform the shape of future research.</p></div><div align="right"><span style="font-size:11px;">List : $64.00 </span><br /><a rel="nofollow" title="The Emergence, Growth and Implications of Private Policing in Victoria: "Nature abhors a vacuum."
